(A reprint from the Manila Bulletin) LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Around 40 participants from the various local government offices in Pangasinan led by Police Provincial Office OIC Provincial Director Mariano Luis Verzosa and Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council officer-in-charge Col. Fernando De Guzman underwent the Basic/Intermediate Incident Command System Training Course.
The specialized course was spearheaded by the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) on November 20-23 in San Fernando City, La Union.
It was conducted in line with Executive Order No. 82 which seeks to institutionalize the proper use of Incident Command System (ICS) which is a tool to organize on-scene disaster response and management mechanism under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) in times of disasters and calamities.
The activity includes lectures on the ICS, its organization and staffing, ICS facilities, how to organize and manage incidents and events and other related topics and issues. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
